The kiwi fruit was known as the Chinese gooseberry. Although it is associated with New Zealand, kiwifruit actually originated in the Chang Kiang Valley of China. The Chinese used it as a tonic (A medicinal substance taken to give a feeling of vigor or well-being) for children and women after childbirth due to its high nutritional value, but never truly enjoyed it as a fruit. The kiwifruit arrived first in 1904 in the United States and later in found its way to New Zealand. Yet it was the New Zealanders who recognized the potential of this Delicious fruit and began using it for commercial profit.
Why is the kiwi fruit a New Zealand Icon?
Has longevity-The kiwifruit became a popular fruit in NZ in the 1950s. The plant is native to China. When it was first introduced, it was known as 'Chinese gooseberry' because of the shape and number of seeds. New Zealanders soon renamed it after their national symbol, the kiwi bird. New Zealanders recognize this as an Icon and can still be seen in supermarkets and maybe in backyards.
UNIQUE- Over the years in many countries, Businesses have started to make lotions, creams, ointments, hotels, deserts and more.
Positives- People in many industries have made tours, shops, cafes and structures of the kiwi fruit and they are really cool because you can learn about the kiwifruit.

Well China exported the Chinese goose berry to all over the world and New Zealand took theberry and recognized it as a NZ Icon, It also costed allot of money for The Kiwi Fruit to be in tours,
gift shops, beauty products, jewelry, clothing, food, drinks and New Zealand souvenirs.
The BIGGEST media hit of The Kiwi Fruit is the Giant Kiwi Fruit in Te Puke.
